Interrup-ting!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Have you ever spotted someone on the street that is dressed ever so nonchalantly yet makes you wonder what it is that's making them stand out?<br />
Thus <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Monster-Ate-My-Couture/311692942181565?fref=ts" target="_blank">Monster Ate My Couture </a>started it's search to find the answer to this. And one girl gave us the answer:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uO8fBBb--3k/UOAoxN0k6cI/AAAAAAAABAQ/IbgjERbfRE4/s1600/header.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="334" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uO8fBBb--3k/UOAoxN0k6cI/AAAAAAAABAQ/IbgjERbfRE4/s640/header.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Neha Naik is a student of Fashion at National Institute of Fashion Technology in Calcutta. She's best known in her college for her obviously cute style and thick kohled eyes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4KFPzjiH5YM/UOAokT-MNEI/AAAAAAAAA_4/LyMPI5lLNME/s1600/Pic+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4KFPzjiH5YM/UOAokT-MNEI/AAAAAAAAA_4/LyMPI5lLNME/s640/Pic+1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She loves mixing girly with grunge and MAmC digs that she's a D-I-Y baby because she loves to rip her own jeans and cuts 'em up to make the cutest shorts like the one she's wearing above! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The petite girl likes to add her own twist to whichever garment she wears. A shirt tied up in front, lace stocking with converse or even shredded jeans with a cutesy bubble top, she's fearless in her style statements.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X6rx0_4F_q0/UOAopWB93YI/AAAAAAAABAA/fq5Vcin5DGk/s1600/Pic+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X6rx0_4F_q0/UOAopWB93YI/AAAAAAAABAA/fq5Vcin5DGk/s640/Pic+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
MAmC loves how she matches these vintage looking block heels with her ripped shorts. And the "too-large-for-me" wrap around her neck completes the look perfectly!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RhvUtTapp-c/UOAotZWibMI/AAAAAAAABAI/kg0oaDlhJd4/s1600/Pic+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RhvUtTapp-c/UOAotZWibMI/AAAAAAAABAI/kg0oaDlhJd4/s640/Pic+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And oh, the ring on her finger? Is not really a ring, it's a rubber band knotted around her finger. Conveniently chic? We agree! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The girl loves to shop at Chemistry, Vero Moda and Benetton, though occasionally you might find her with a pair of scissors in her hand ready to rip up something totally awesome out of her old clothes!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Top: Chemistry</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wrap: Shoppers' Stop</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Shorts: Lee</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Opaque Stockings: Vero Moda</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Shoes: Catwalk</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Peace :]</div>

This post marks my emancipation. It's always better to be the designer who never falls in any genre, but creates her own. Follow all rules, by breaking them. </div>

Making these illustrations made me realize that the rules that we've been taught all these years have already changed us and molded us into exactly how society wants us to be. But what we want to be comes out in the form of our creative expressions. And no one can take that away from us.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Whenever we think of leather, we think of the that male dominated territory of shoes, belts and bags that much to a woman's dismay, pretty much don't make it to her closet. But then again, there are some people, working away in the shy Leather Design laboratories of Fashion Schools making sure that one day, the hides that men are so proud to wear might become a woman's treasure.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One such person, who I may add is one of the most creatively advanced people at the National Institute of Fashion Technology at Calcutta. This one's for the prodigal artificer:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l6koqp2Gt6I/UDnt0WLWioI/AAAAAAAAA34/JpDSWIVMAFo/s1600/header'.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l6koqp2Gt6I/UDnt0WLWioI/AAAAAAAAA34/JpDSWIVMAFo/s400/header'.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Reetika Singh is in her Final Year studying Leather Design. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Monster-Ate-My-Couture/311692942181565?bookmark_t=page" target="_blank">Monster Ate My Couture</a> loved the spark that this leather loving lass carries with her.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">"I believe in story-telling. Simplicity, complexity or sometimes both, help me make my renditions and I strive to reach out to as many hearts as possible."</span></blockquote>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eD7TV2uSQh8/UDnu3CyhrzI/AAAAAAAAA4A/OF4wDVWyY7U/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="570" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eD7TV2uSQh8/UDnu3CyhrzI/AAAAAAAAA4A/OF4wDVWyY7U/s640/Untitled-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This jacket made of Rexine describes exactly how her design philosophy translates into her work. Simple arcs that flip and meet with the superbly constructed panels make this jacket a stunner!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nLdaT9zxCF8/UDnvce16WcI/AAAAAAAAA4I/joF65PbXCsU/s1600/Untitled-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="570" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nLdaT9zxCF8/UDnvce16WcI/AAAAAAAAA4I/joF65PbXCsU/s640/Untitled-2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also think that this jacket is a classic one, where attention to details make it unique. When asked what her USP is, she said,</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">"Perhaps the unique surfaces or shapes that I use to create my renditions which may or may not be of leather is definitely what sets me apart."</span></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: center;">
...And we couldn't agree more!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bU2qeHiKHqU/UDnwfTdNseI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/SiQ63teJ8SU/s1600/Untitled-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="570" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bU2qeHiKHqU/UDnwfTdNseI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/SiQ63teJ8SU/s640/Untitled-3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her designs come across as a fresh burst of energy and her color combinations are stunning. Like how well the Turquoise and Nude combination looks on this multi-ridged duffel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pw-e-6XTwgE/UDnwh6qkDTI/AAAAAAAAA4g/eys-cYJnsIM/s1600/Untitled-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="570" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pw-e-6XTwgE/UDnwh6qkDTI/AAAAAAAAA4g/eys-cYJnsIM/s640/Untitled-5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So who does this bundle of talent look up to or get inspired by?</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">"No single designer, artwork or designwork inspires me. My inspirations are drawn from everyone and everything around me. But yes, I really look up to Bottega Veneta's finesse and </span></div>
<em style="font-style: normal;"></em><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em style="font-style: normal;"><em style="font-style: normal;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Fabergé egg's beauty."</span></em></em></div>
<em style="font-style: normal;">
</em></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Nothing less than the best, eh? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0WVtd3ZQdwE/UDnwgnA3i2I/AAAAAAAAA4Y/hGdS-pa4tbQ/s1600/Untitled-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="574" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0WVtd3ZQdwE/UDnwgnA3i2I/AAAAAAAAA4Y/hGdS-pa4tbQ/s640/Untitled-4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Every designer has a dream client, so who is her dream client?</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">"Happens to be the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Her panache and confidence instills a certain drive to adorn her."</span></blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well MAmC thinks that her creativity is best fit for royalty, too. The class and edge in her designs ensure that she is meant to be between stars and here's hoping that she reaches the pinnacle of success that she is aiming for!</div>

There are guys. And then there are "well-dressed" guys. The second category of guys are what the masses might follow, or outcast as they wish. These are the anti-fashions. For a guy in India to break away from the Half-sleeved checks or the Bermuda could turn out to be quite a task. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Monster-Ate-My-Couture/311692942181565" target="_blank">Monster Ate My Couture</a> was on the lookout of the guys who did. And look who we found scorching the city.<br />

Kovid is a fashion student and being so styling himself up comes naturally to him. His look is very much inspired from Hip-Hop and the American street style and occasionally he does wear the Hip Hop Cap. *swagger like that?*</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kWYt5Iqy4lA/UCLBgZeY2vI/AAAAAAAAA1M/zUGSnFfGAeE/s1600/DSC_0064+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="562" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kWYt5Iqy4lA/UCLBgZeY2vI/AAAAAAAAA1M/zUGSnFfGAeE/s640/DSC_0064+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Let's put a lid on it now. When it comes to his style, Kovid doesn't just follow the generic B-Boy schemes. MAmC loved how he replaced the over sized (and over-rated) t-shirt with a tee his own size in bright colors. The sneakers with the side lacing caught our eye. (And we adored them).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5m0lrYW0jaI/UCLB-I8ZRnI/AAAAAAAAA1U/zgdT0ktCDTQ/s1600/DSC_0069+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5m0lrYW0jaI/UCLB-I8ZRnI/AAAAAAAAA1U/zgdT0ktCDTQ/s640/DSC_0069+copy.jpg" width="352" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The killer graphics on the tee=Brownie points! Another thing that got us wolf-whistling was the fact that he actually experimented with wearing jodhpurs with the style he usually carries. The olive cotton jodhpurs give the "baggy" look of the quintessential Hip Hop wardrobe without making him look like he's packing on pounds!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vjeum3sRQm4/UCLBAgyMc6I/AAAAAAAAA1A/15_PtI80zPw/s1600/DSC_0134+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vjeum3sRQm4/UCLBAgyMc6I/AAAAAAAAA1A/15_PtI80zPw/s640/DSC_0134+copy.jpg" width="392" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this one's for the guys: We know you love your 50 Cents and Lil' Waynes but we really don't like the flash of boxers anymore. Its a faux pas now and we'd like to forget it like a nightmare.<br />
Just grab those wayfarers and swagger on!<br />

<br />We love the knotted white top with the relaxed denims. The best part about this young lady is how she clashes feminine with the not-so-feminine worn out Converse. The yellow laces add the much needed pop of color which breaks the monotony of white and black.<br />

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week '12 kicked off in the Capital yesterday. This time around there is alot to see and alot to expect! Well first off, there are more than a 130 designers showcasing their works, higher than any number since it started. Secondly, for the first time FDCI has invited three Japanese fashion designers. Beyond boundaries? Yes, please! That's something I really look forward to!<br />
<div>
Well, here's presenting some of the best works of Day 1:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<img border="0" height="242" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oJKbP35_uFY/TzzB_WtpAmI/AAAAAAAAAl8/H33Bl9dSA9g/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What I loved her collection which heavily reflected Spanish romanticism. Especially the drapes got me in a frenzy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JecevliskpM/TzzHaJy21TI/AAAAAAAAAmE/a3iy_GH8sVI/s1600/11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JecevliskpM/TzzHaJy21TI/AAAAAAAAAmE/a3iy_GH8sVI/s640/11.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Se-Z82y241c/TzzJGrpzcWI/AAAAAAAAAmM/VxKApWLYK8I/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Se-Z82y241c/TzzJGrpzcWI/AAAAAAAAAmM/VxKApWLYK8I/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Man, do I love it when to contrasting elements are put together to create magic! S&N got it right with their drapes to!</span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vaCzSeXfRpU/TzzJXPnmv7I/AAAAAAAAAmU/2mfRid2wAzM/s1600/22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vaCzSeXfRpU/TzzJXPnmv7I/AAAAAAAAAmU/2mfRid2wAzM/s640/22.jpg" width="640" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7gdNdMK87Nk/Tz0QE7m2bQI/AAAAAAAAAmc/eX0LDWOaFaQ/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7gdNdMK87Nk/Tz0QE7m2bQI/AAAAAAAAAmc/eX0LDWOaFaQ/s640/3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Vineet Bahl's collection had a very nomadic feel to it. A mix of the best Indian brocades mixed with western silhouettes made this one a hit!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mRM2UgUpfdE/Tz0QM0lK4RI/AAAAAAAAAmk/XDLF_mwYxwM/s1600/33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mRM2UgUpfdE/Tz0QM0lK4RI/AAAAAAAAAmk/XDLF_mwYxwM/s640/33.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yP54sdeYrug/Tz0Tbt5SxnI/AAAAAAAAAms/gk0E11jRNag/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yP54sdeYrug/Tz0Tbt5SxnI/AAAAAAAAAms/gk0E11jRNag/s640/4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The rest of designers, in my case, presented something pretty usual. I guess the market's getting to them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>ANAND KABRA </b>for instance needs a serious up-haul fro the usual heavy embroidery on sheer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f4lKSaTORXI/Tz0Uz2gE03I/AAAAAAAAAm0/3O-4jURicUo/s1600/anand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f4lKSaTORXI/Tz0Uz2gE03I/AAAAAAAAAm0/3O-4jURicUo/s640/anand.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>ANUPAMA DAYAL</b>'<b>S </b>work looks seriously Sabyasachi inspired. The mix and match of prints, embroideries and colours is really not something new.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3uh6a7WxY4/Tz0VSRtWEmI/AAAAAAAAAm8/uCCZBoNYqKw/s1600/detailedddd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3uh6a7WxY4/Tz0VSRtWEmI/AAAAAAAAAm8/uCCZBoNYqKw/s640/detailedddd.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>JAMES FARREIRA </b>did a great job with the whole <i>bandhani and </i>tie and dye prints, especially the one below with the exaggerated<i> bandhani</i> print. However I think the silhouettes could have been more experimental.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gFN_GblYQjA/Tz0Vu2zmIuI/AAAAAAAAAnE/AUJvV7dxpyE/s1600/James-Ferreira-AW12-Big-Bandani-Print-Dress-on-Exshoesme.com_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gFN_GblYQjA/Tz0Vu2zmIuI/AAAAAAAAAnE/AUJvV7dxpyE/s640/James-Ferreira-AW12-Big-Bandani-Print-Dress-on-Exshoesme.com_.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>ANJU MODI </b>had the styling bang on. Matching brogues with the outfit made them interesting. Just wish I could say the same for the outfits though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iErf9vVvdnQ/Tz0XK5aME8I/AAAAAAAAAnU/7sDMEhXsPAQ/s1600/img_8966.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iErf9vVvdnQ/Tz0XK5aME8I/AAAAAAAAAnU/7sDMEhXsPAQ/s640/img_8966.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Agree or Disagree? Lemme know below!</div>
Love & Peace!</div>Radhika Prasharhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03220635285522434116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1961657521073144405.post-33249706909960654402012-01-29T02:01:00.000-08:002012-01-29T02:03:43.760-08:00Spring Crush: A February Wish-List.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Well, going a bit off track for what this blog is supposed to contain, I will make a wish-list. I always want a lot of things. (Yes, I am the average materialistic girl. Who always wants, never needs.) My mum thinks my closet is about to blow up and destroy half of Calcutta. I am the typical impulsive shopper. I adore Rebecca Bloomwood (not only because I relate to her but also because DDAAYYUMM! Luke Brandon is one hell of a catch!)<br />
My head is like a scrapbook. Which is why my blog looks like one too (note: torn paper, paint blotches.) So making a wishlist is actually like organizing my underwear drawer.<br />
So how do I really start hmmm... I guess it's okay to club together a look. It's like a LOOK WISH-LIST.<br />
So keeping in mind the Trends for Spring-Summer 2012 (A NIFT-ian always has this at the back of her mind even when shopping during sale!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pt-bDvBm9oQ/TyTlQKuHQdI/AAAAAAAAAj0/VMBTgrYObwc/s1600/Untitled-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pt-bDvBm9oQ/TyTlQKuHQdI/AAAAAAAAAj0/VMBTgrYObwc/s1600/Untitled-2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pleats is one of the major trends happening this Spring. In all forms! Pleated shorts and Trousers. Flowing pleated dresses. Lanvin's Spring 2012 show had some of the best pleated dresses on the runway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uL2c88h8lG4/TyTmxWaHkFI/AAAAAAAAAj8/ms_hYQ_RpS8/s1600/lanvin+paris+fashion+week+spring+summer+2012+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uL2c88h8lG4/TyTmxWaHkFI/AAAAAAAAAj8/ms_hYQ_RpS8/s400/lanvin+paris+fashion+week+spring+summer+2012+.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Inspired by which... *drum roll*</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qCWbSElOUK4/TyTpHJ2_zoI/AAAAAAAAAkM/dEycTVkhgvY/s1600/Untitled-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qCWbSElOUK4/TyTpHJ2_zoI/AAAAAAAAAkM/dEycTVkhgvY/s640/Untitled-3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The perfect <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Sodamix pleated dress</b></span> from House of Fraser. Loved the weave detailing.<b><span style="font-size: large;"> Nude court shoes</span></b> and <b><span style="font-size: large;">statement cocktail ring</span></b>, both from Asos. That <span style="font-size: large;"><b>killer bling clutch</b></span> in Champagne to cut the monotone-ish effect down: Anya Hindmarch Valorie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ajteaPQQTfQ/TyTwhxsClpI/AAAAAAAAAkU/wLO_36z_l7g/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ajteaPQQTfQ/TyTwhxsClpI/AAAAAAAAAkU/wLO_36z_l7g/s1600/2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The trend I'm talking about is Black and White. Like the Spring 2012 Gareth Pugh Black and White. Although I love the trend. Black and White is really not my thing. It bores the fizz out of me. To make the look pop, I would add red to it. Be it a red blazer or shoes. Or just anything you like, really!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D__7-Xafw8s/TyT2AyqixvI/AAAAAAAAAkc/rkznGGHbspo/s1600/22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D__7-Xafw8s/TyT2AyqixvI/AAAAAAAAAkc/rkznGGHbspo/s640/22.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b style="font-size: x-large;">Basic tank top </b>from Asos. The <b><span style="font-size: large;">two finger ring</span></b> from Erin Wasson. I'm crazy about two finger rings. They set such a statement. Especially the chunky ones. Victoria Beckham <b><span style="font-size: large;">black Skinny Denims</span></b>. <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Red Louboutins or Cream Steve Maddens</b></span>. I would wear both if I could, honest! And of course, the best <span style="font-size: large;"><b>red jackets</b></span> in town, from Mango. (Seriously, in Calcutta, the perfect red is found only at the Mango store. Not that we have much of a choice. *sniff*)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TojV7NZNQ8A/TyT_y-feeGI/AAAAAAAAAkk/PaWia2A7sxM/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TojV7NZNQ8A/TyT_y-feeGI/AAAAAAAAAkk/PaWia2A7sxM/s1600/3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This particular trend is actually quite risky. It can either make you look like a high class fashionista or a clown. The best tangerines were seen at Paris Fashion Week by <span style="background-color: white; line-height: 20px; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Sachin + Babi, Doo.Ri, Rebecca Minkoff, Derek Lam (from Fashionologie).</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GopVXhwEDb4/TyUAogiUV8I/AAAAAAAAAks/EkZhQKtgpGg/s1600/Tangerine-Dreams.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GopVXhwEDb4/TyUAogiUV8I/AAAAAAAAAks/EkZhQKtgpGg/s320/Tangerine-Dreams.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Color-B</span>locking this trend makes most sense to me. Plus I can go crazy with the colors! Hint: Tangerine+Fuchsia, Tangerine+Navy, Tangerine+Pink... or play it safe with Tangerine+Black.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3EWIP3ddG4Q/TyUBzvz218I/AAAAAAAAAk0/uzQum5FLo6s/s1600/33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3EWIP3ddG4Q/TyUBzvz218I/AAAAAAAAAk0/uzQum5FLo6s/s640/33.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am SO crushing on the <b><span style="font-size: large;">lace up booties</span> </b>by Giambatista Valli (one of my favorite designers, by the way), the very 60's Karen Millen <b><span style="font-size: large;">Color Block Dress</span></b>. It's just SO fantastic! I would wear a pair of Warehouse <span style="font-size: large;">leggings</span> with those booties. And OH! That <span style="font-size: large;">ring</span>... from WedOne. I want! And that superb <span style="font-size: large;"><b>oversize bag</b></span> from Asos would do me no harm!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ESE7xh39gk0/TyUI0zTJq9I/AAAAAAAAAk8/FHtlw8wAFhU/s1600/se.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ESE7xh39gk0/TyUI0zTJq9I/AAAAAAAAAk8/FHtlw8wAFhU/s1600/se.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Chevron's made a huge comeback for Spring 2012. Burberry and Etro had amazing chevron prints. Though the credit goes to Missoni for starting this trend all together!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZE5ojodxvUY/TyUJtEofYHI/AAAAAAAAAlE/U-8L9LORfRE/s1600/Gilt-Missoni-Chevron-Rug.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZE5ojodxvUY/TyUJtEofYHI/AAAAAAAAAlE/U-8L9LORfRE/s320/Gilt-Missoni-Chevron-Rug.jpg" width="240" /></a>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
That's a Chevron Rug from Missoni, by the way. The perfect spring look would have a start zig-zag print complimented by shades of Champagne or Beige.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V1-jZe4JF0M/TyUOXP3nMdI/AAAAAAAAAlM/ch2DfJjHo3c/s1600/boo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V1-jZe4JF0M/TyUOXP3nMdI/AAAAAAAAAlM/ch2DfJjHo3c/s640/boo.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that's something I would wear to college. Damn! The<b><span style="font-size: large;"> Lycra Chevron print top</span></b> from Warehouse and the <b><span style="font-size: large;">tie up shorts</span></b> from Reed Krakoff are just perfect for the oncoming of Spring. I am in Love with those <b><span style="font-size: large;">metallic brogues</span></b> from Boutique 9. The <b><span style="font-size: large;">fringe necklace</span></b> from Accessorize would break the overpowering of the print. And what better way to top it off than a <b><span style="font-size: large;">fedora</span></b> from Forever 21?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1fhpJeFBKKc/TyUTl05eooI/AAAAAAAAAlU/0q8-ZEfqKRg/s1600/kk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1fhpJeFBKKc/TyUTl05eooI/AAAAAAAAAlU/0q8-ZEfqKRg/s1600/kk.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I know this trend is already fading. But lace was my favorite thing all through Winters. I packed up on lace blouses and dresses and somehow cannot get enough of it. One thing I would love to try are lace biker jackets!</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cSjP24fNT5k/TyUXDRqs8_I/AAAAAAAAAlc/N2gKdCNB1Uc/s1600/ddd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cSjP24fNT5k/TyUXDRqs8_I/AAAAAAAAAlc/N2gKdCNB1Uc/s640/ddd.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Lace biker jacket</span></b> from Soaked in Luxury. <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Killer black suede booties</b></span> from Bluefly. <b><span style="font-size: large;">Animal Print earrings</span></b> from Accessorize. <b><span style="font-size: large;">Grey tank</span></b> from Asos. I know it's totally 2010 but I'm still crushing on the<b><span style="font-size: large;"> Leopard Print clutch</span></b> from Alexander McQueen. Fancy much?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it from me for now. Will come up with more looks soon.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I clearly remember getting my first box of crayons.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was 3 years old ready for my "First Ever Day in School" which was the next day. My mother took me to this little shop right opposite the very very old Park Circus market in Kolkata. Holding my mother's hand, I tried to stand on my toes to see over the <i>dada</i> across the counter searching for the box of Camel Plastic Crayons. As my mom handed me the box, I quickly opened the box of twelve neatly sharpened smooth crayons in all their majesty. The perfumed fragrance of those crayons is the the theme fragrance of my childhood!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I never took any formal training while growing up. Somehow, till date I guess the same 3 year old has managed to take over me ever time I draw or sketch something. I guess NIFT has to be the best thing to have ever happened to me. Not only do I study what I love the most, I also get to explore my second love- Illustrating.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Illustrating garments helps me know exactly what ideas are stored in my brain. It's like freezing my thoughts in paper. So I thought, why not ask my co-students the same? But I didn't need to ask. When I saw their works, I got my answer! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<img border="0" height="312" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4759dxRq1lE/Txo3NuLB2-I/AAAAAAAAAds/pkOiFqMRxXQ/s640/ARINDAM.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<span style="font-size: x-large; text-align: right;">GOD IS IN THE DETAILS</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<div style="text-align: right;">
Arindam's style of illustrating remains classic with an amazing sense of details. The faces somehow remind me of the famous 1930's actress Madge Evans.</div>

Shubho's sense of illustrating is something completely opposite of his persona. His work shows men with tattoos and kohl lined eyes and spiked hair- something very dark. Being a student of Leather Design, he creates sketches of beautiful bags and jackets. Shown below is also his remarkable "Shadow Sketch" made with black Chinese ink.</div>

<span style="font-size: x-large; text-align: right;">THE REALISTIC DREAMER</span></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
Soumen is one of the most creative people I have known. Each of his work inspires me. Be it his paintings or his strokes, you would fall in love with the very thought behind everything he does.</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
Most of his illustrations capture the exact detail of the human figure. A very realistic approach to art, he makes what he sees. His "Shadow Sketches" are one of the best in NIFT.</div>

Anurag Paul is famous in NIFT for being unconditionally in love with the Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra. So much so that all his illustrations are made with her in mind. I really try hard not to sound flamboyant when I talk about myself in my posts. I've been trying to find my signature style of illustrations. So here I present that and my "Shadow Illustration".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
At first it was the "Lady Long Legs with the Rosy Cheeks" but then I finally moved to the black croquis with the red lips and the very extravagant hair. The male croquis with the dripping paint is kind of my mockery at racism. Black and White are just colors, right?

Alexander McQueen once said, "You've got to know the rules to break them." And I guess Fashion School is just teaching me the rules. Nobody is born a Galliano. Sometimes, during class, I design the most complicated of things thinking that if I were a designer, this is what I would sell. But what we forget is if people would want to buy that?<div>
So we were given this assignment in class to make a knock off garment of any designer of our choice. The rules were simple:</div>
<div>
1.Analyze the garment.</div>
<div>
2. Color may be changed.</div>
<div>
3.Very minute details might be changed as well.</div>
<div>
4. Fabric should be as close to the actual fabric as possible.</div>
<div>
5.Should be draped.</div>
<div>
As usual I took out my Collezioni, and sorted out really complicated designs. Something that I was not ready for.</div>
<div>
My mentor initially rejected it and asked us to select garments which WE WOULD WANT TO BUY.</div>
<div>
I did as I was told and made the garment. It made me realize that the most beautiful of things are best kept simple. It was also a lot of fun, to recreate something within Rs.400 which generally sells for $1500!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Here are a few of the designs made by my classmates and me. *drum roll*</div>

Beautiful lights flood the arena while the cathedral windows in the background enhanced the beauty of what was to be seen. What everyone saw next was sheer drama, as one of China’s leading designers unfolded her range of Couture for Spring/Summer 2012.</span></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 17px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Deng Hao. The very name may not ring a bell to many of us, but she is the epitome of the fashion industry in east Asia. If you ever Google her name, all you get are pictures of her latest couture line, and tid bits of her tryst with London Fashion Week. But nothing concrete. Except a page on her website which is ONLY in Chinese.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="line-height: 115%;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> When I saw her works, I knew I had to write about her.</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kUJHtACazOc/TskTUstshpI/AAAAAAAAAWk/6PWtcJ0l59M/s1600/4eaa3762ca4f4ad7a7030a0ed10078fa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kUJHtACazOc/TskTUstshpI/AAAAAAAAAWk/6PWtcJ0l59M/s400/4eaa3762ca4f4ad7a7030a0ed10078fa.jpg" width="262" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Deng Hao.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Deng Hao began her label in 1993 in Shenzhen. She takes her inspirations from Chinese and Islamic architectures and incorporates the taken elements in a contemporary way. Her designs are flattering and glamorous. She once said that she wants to help her customers to “bloom as flowers”. She has a daughter named Nicole Xie who collaborates with her to create the intriguing collections which they unleash every season. Xie graduated from Central St. Martins. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Deng Hao is also known for her fabulous knitting techniques which she integrates with her clothes and her good sense of surface embellishments which are seen in most of her garments.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JQO_lvD-nis/TskV4-3FLaI/AAAAAAAAAW0/W2zCooNRTUY/s640/ca331efc8bf84ac399a013b2125b8e9b.jpg" width="426" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Master in Knit Manipulation.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">In September 2011, more than 20 Chinese fashion houses and brands turned up at London Fashion Week to show off their country’s progress in the business. The participants included the likes of Haiping Xie, Omnia Luo by Zheng Luo, Moreline, BBLLUUEE, Awakening and Deng Hao.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 17px;">Deng Hao presented a collection with a focus on reds and greens. She named it “Flower Devil: GuRan Oriental Scarlet”. Her garments were a blend of contemporary UK high street and traditional Chinese motifs. Sheer was much used and somehow the revealing garments were perfectly au courant.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pi837YBfEsE/TskYT8RBbkI/AAAAAAAAAXM/0uvoZBVtmSs/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="412" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pi837YBfEsE/TskYT8RBbkI/AAAAAAAAAXM/0uvoZBVtmSs/s640/Untitled-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">London Fashion Week, September 2011.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 16px;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">Her latest collection, featured in November 2011, was Spring Summer 2012: Couture. It is one of my favourites. Every garment tells a story. I’m somehow reminded of those long forgotten Chinese warriors. Fierce and deep. The colours were mostly those dull ones in tones of moss, burgundy and greys except they were intelligently mixed and matched to look extravagant to say the least. Clever pattern making added to the glory the show turned out to be. Also, I think after a long time, digital prints actually made a huge impression on me after McQueen. It reminded me of those stained glassed windows which those stereotypical churches have. But it is however said that she had taken inspiration from Islamic architecture. But whatever! It looked marvellous none-the-less.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eiobcWnxtwQ/TskdI0ZNoCI/AAAAAAAAAXk/iHdQy6H1PyU/s1600/China%252BFashion%252BWeek%252BSS121.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eiobcWnxtwQ/TskdI0ZNoCI/AAAAAAAAAXk/iHdQy6H1PyU/s640/China%252BFashion%252BWeek%252BSS121.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The stage: Grand to say the least.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div>Prototype classes always make you test your limits. Understanding how designers reach the very final designs of their collection is as important as stitching the garment. You don't just sketch out a design. It doesn't make you a designer. The thoughts that make you understand your garments, recognizing those ideas... THAT makes you a designer.<br />
<br />
A tiny step in the long and tedious process is making of the Collage boards. It's the first baby step after you decide on your Theme. Imagining the first thoughts, catching hold of them in magazine pages or your mind and making a collage out of it! Its really interesting the things we came up with in one of our classes. Most of us made something totally abstract, some like Abhishek Biswas with great sketching skills made an ink-collage, while Surath Das made a very creative 3-D board.<br />

</tbody></table>We did a lot of Brainstorming to get to our theme which revolved around Africa. After numerous fights and misunderstandings ;) our team, which comprised of Snigdha Seksaria, Meghana Nyayapati, Surabhi Singh, Soumen Halder, Sandipan Das and Me, finally reached the theme Of Hyper-culture: Merging Bengal and Africa. Our brief was to make neck-pieces and belts, involving the traditional Bengali embroidery of <i>Kantha. </i>It took us 2 weeks to complete the embroidery part which was done after we traced all our patterns on the cotton fabrics. The motifs were mostly inspired by African tribes, wildlife and colors.<br />

We cut out the motifs we had made, and sandwiched felt between the embroidery part and cotton-silk to make it stiff. Somewhat like a bib neck-lace. What set our neck-pieces apart was the fact that we used cane rings as the supporting part around the neck. This was inspired by the Masai Tribe of Africa which wears similar chunky rings of beads around their necks.</span></div></td></tr>

</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Oh the drama of the show! I loved every single piece!! From flowy movements to structure, it was all there. And the wonderful Pop of colour was enchanting to say the least. It was one of my favorite among all the shows.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><b style="font-size: x-large;">HOW DID HE SAVE MY LIFE? </b>Well, so after seeing his fashion show video, I googled him. And his story was just an amateur designer's dream. He too is from NIFT who went on to study at Parson's (where I want to be). And now he's EVERYWHERE. I love him! :) :) </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">That day, I not only became more serious about my work, I actually realised that giving up would be the stupidest thing I could do. Everyone who becomes popular, is once just an average person with alot of dreams. And dreaming is the first step to achieving... sat down to work again, and next day I ended up getting an A+ in my pegged skirt assignment! *happyness* :)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />

Not getting enough time to blog! But I assure you... My fashion journal is keeping up way too well. I will put up the pictures pretty soon. :)</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Whoever said college life would be the best years of my life must not have attended college... or maybe a fashion college to be precise!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Running my Brother (*ahem* the meanie) my vision starts blurring. I realise that maybe the pattern's traced too dark... But then it hits me. The stupid shoulder yoked baby doll top I'm making... is just a tiny grain in the sand... (not to mention its so-five-years-ago... and just boring RTW) I want to make SO MUCH MORE! I guess I'm just NOT a RTW kind of a person! :P Is that bad? Well, here is the sketch of the top I made...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TT_Q5lgnOyI/AAAAAAAAAJs/Uy2x39y4cdE/s1600/scan0006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TT_Q5lgnOyI/AAAAAAAAAJs/Uy2x39y4cdE/s640/scan0006.jpg" width="297" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">...this Fashion Demon is just HUNGRY...</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So I made this in my Fashion Illustration class:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TT_Q7BKO-II/AAAAAAAAAJw/rx7_-ZN1pi0/s1600/26012011%2528001%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TT_Q7BKO-II/AAAAAAAAAJw/rx7_-ZN1pi0/s640/26012011%2528001%2529.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It's made using Chinese ink... specifying specific areas of light and dark. I like this kind of art... Reminds me of Lino-cut... :) (The girl is wearing a Chanel fur coat...haha)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Speaking of <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Chanel</span></b>, OMG did you see the ad campaign?? That is so unusual of Lagerfeld... </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, sans-serif; line-height: 19px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Inès de la Fressange (the original Coco muse, walked the Chanel runway for 21 years!), Stella Tennant, Freja Beha Erichsen, and </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Baptiste Giabiconi getting it all right... (Freja is my favourite always though. ^_^)... Lagerfeld dropped the typical sophisticated look and this time kept it pretty simple... Like someone clicking pictures at a Sunday brunch... (And oh, the biker boots are intriguing... I mean really.)</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, sans-serif; line-height: 19px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">One ad campaign I wasn't a fan of was of <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Louis Vuitton</span></b>... just like the Fall 2010 ad, it has 3 generations of models (</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">Kristen McMenamy, Raquel Zimmermann, and Freja Beha Erichsen)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">1.It's gaudy</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">2.The pictures are chaotic. In a bad way.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">3.Why couldn't they do something more different?</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">4.The looks for all the shots are pretty similar.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">I do however like the sets... and the orientalism of the whole thing... and the Normatal Madge-ish hairstyles+looks... AND the fans! :)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; line-height: 20px;"><br />

It was one of my worst times ever! I had my first ever heart break. I loved the man very much but it's safe to say that he SOOOOO wasn't worth all the trouble. My close friend Meggna was involved in a car accident. And a few of my toughest decisions were made which ultimately proved disastrous!</span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">The only comfort I had was work, my family and Gaga! :)</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So here's to a new beginning!</span><br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">This post involves some of my favorite designers work/inspirational people in 2010. I sketched and edited them myself. They are basically stylized figures. A few of you may find it disturbing, but I guess it's the only way I can get rid of the ghosts from my past. I hope all the negativity of 2010 does not follow me any longer.</span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">VIKTOR AND ROLF</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TSIAI6luFZI/AAAAAAAAAJI/XbPMHs3OKUs/s1600/Untitled-12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br />

In every form and way. And V&R made a huge impact on me. This is one of my favourites from their Spring/Summer 2010. What a concept!! I wish I could get into their brain and just see where all this comes from. It is by far one of the best shows I've seen. I have great respect for the duo.. I respect anyone who is a patron of art... :)</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">GARETH PUGH</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TSIAhRpRLsI/AAAAAAAAAJU/PM59CdCjLe8/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TSIAhRpRLsI/AAAAAAAAAJU/PM59CdCjLe8/s640/Untitled-1.jpg" width="452" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I've been following the Brit fashion designer's works since the 2006 London Fashion Week. I would say: Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Viv Westwood... HE'S IN THE LEAGUE OF THESE GREAT THINKERS. He's the reason why I want to apply for Postgrads at Central Saint Martins. I remember sitting in front of the television and watching in awe, as this piece of art, strutted down a runway in Fall 2006. It looked like one of those poodles you make out of balloons. It was black. Dark. Just like Pugh is. Oozing with rebellious ideas.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />

He died. The reason for all my creativity. He inspired me to such an extent that I knew I had to realise my dreams at any cost. I wanted to be just like him. No one can replace him. No one else could combine drama and elegance the way he did.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Sarah Burton, made me fall in love with her after the show. I was so anticipating another <s>Valentino-style</s> let-down. After all you cannot ever expect two creative minds to think exactly the same way. What Lee's tortured mind thought could not be ever perceived by anyone but himself. I'm sure Burton (Lee's right hand for so many years) must have had to go through alot of pressure to carry on a legacy so grand and so huge! McQueen meant edgy, avant-garde yet a statement on it's own. Sarah Burton on the other is all this but a lot more softer and more feminine. It did have many of McQueen's trademarks engraved like the exaggerated hips, baroque inspirations and the use of excess gold. Gave me a sort of regal feel. And I really like the Earth Goddess inspiration thingy! :)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />

An army of designers with their gadgets all dying to dress the bride to be in their most outstanding creations like, EVER!!<br />
I bet she didn't see this coming!<br />
Every designer would want THEIR creation to go down the aisle on that royal body on the most awaited HISTORIC day.<br />
So, <a href="http://www.wwd.com/eyescoop?module=tn/logo"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #999999;">WWD</span></a> got various designers to sketch their vision of the bride...<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">And here is my count down on it. The Top Ten!!:</span><br />
<br />
Starting with... <b>#10</b> <u>Angela Missoni for Missoni</u><br />
I like the fact that so many different fabrics are gonna be a part of the design to show the heritage and it's layers of Britain. But.. It looks too... I don't know.... Blankety (?)... LOL.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8KbNAVHGI/AAAAAAAAAHU/053IWMsTvQs/s1600/missoni.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8KbNAVHGI/AAAAAAAAAHU/053IWMsTvQs/s400/missoni.jpg" width="271" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>#9</b> <u>Nanette Lepore</u> Not much a fan of the dress but like the concept which she described as:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><blockquote><i>“A patchwork lace dress reminds us all that a true princess can mend and make do!”</i></blockquote><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8KZxoeAhI/AAAAAAAAAHM/vND0fYNzB28/s1600/nanette-lepore.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8KZxoeAhI/AAAAAAAAAHM/vND0fYNzB28/s400/nanette-lepore.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>#8</b> <u>Monique Lhuillier</u> I Love the fact that this has such a flowy movement to it. Imagine Kate walking down the aisle with this. So Slow Mo....!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8Kac2GLYI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/ambR10HLouU/s1600/monique-lhuillier.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8Kac2GLYI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/ambR10HLouU/s400/monique-lhuillier.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>#7</b> it's <u>Frida Gianni for Gucci</u> Simple, Classy, Elegant. Anything but in your face. Doesn't scream "HEY TAKE MY PHOTO I'M A PRINCESS!"</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8KcOKTysI/AAAAAAAAAHc/vouDeCKLgdk/s1600/gucci.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TQ8KcOKTysI/AAAAAAAAAHc/vouDeCKLgdk/s320/gucci.JPG" width="272" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>#6</b> is<u> Prabal Gurung</u>... I like! It's got this mod look which is so now, but at the same time it has this royal vintage feel about itself..</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Even if it meant sleeping outside the Milan store all night, I wish I could go in before every one and pick up all the pieces!! Valentino's Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have created a capsule collection for Gap to inaugurate it's first flagship store in Italy...<br />
Talk about getting high-end at high street!<br />

<br />
I WANT IT ALL!!<br />
<br />
It's like all of Valentino's elements in a seven piece collection.<br />

Fun on the Run(Way)Alber Elbaz of Lanvin is not your typical designer. While we see one runway show after featuring edge, and high fashion meets oh-so-whip in the hand type of collections, last night at NYC's Pierre Hotel we had a shot of "Fresh"... Like *dies*<br />
Although I'm not a fan of neon and clashing prints, Lanvin (hearts) H&M kinda got to me. I saw the first few pictures and thought, "Ew. Just 'cause the clothes have to be cheaper they're so trashy". But then (as I saw the poodle) and then the intricacy of the jewelery to the clever clever styling.... I actually got myself to like it! I liked the make-up too!<br />
It is one of the few collaborations in the recent years which is said to have an actual impact.<br />

The models danced had fun on the walk, while the audience clapped... Anna Dello Russo with the poodle was the icing on the cake! The most awaited comebacks of the year... And he did it in style! No press, No reviews of the collection, no live coverage... AND YET! He managed to get full publicity of the whole event- which btw, was just a bunch of his close friends and a private fashion show in *wait for it* old world style!</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Talk about going back to the beginning of high street! He introduced each model and described each garment just like in the old days.. I'm talking about the 60's... He sure did bring back the magic and charm which fashion held in those days... Too bad for certain guests in the even who tweeted pictures of the event LIVE...</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">In an interview with Vogue, Ford said,</span></span><br />
<blockquote>“<i>I want fashion to be fun again, like it was in the ’60s. You couldn’t wait to get the clothes and put them on, and I think we’ve lost that. I don’t get the need for this immediacy. In fact, I think it’s bad. The way the system works now, you see the clothes, within an hour or so they’re online, the world sees them. They don’t get to a store for six months. In addition, all of the fast-fashion companies that do a great job, by the way, knock everything off. So it’s everywhere all over the streets in three months and by the time you get it to the store, what’s the point?</i>”</blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Well, here's a look at Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2011. These picture will be in next month's Vogue shot by Steven Meisel. All the words which come to my mind when I see them are: classic. luxe. expensive. breathtaking. chic. time-proof. And you know what? All these are words ARE associate with Tom Ford. Kudos to him for bringing Classic back. In a real way!</span></span><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">But no matter what, the goal of a brand is TO SELL. And while most of the designers know and believe only that, there are designers like Tom Ford and Christopher Bailey who hold their own without letting go of their roots...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Speaking of Christopher Bailey, Emma Watson was the first person to actually sport a trench coat from the just-about-to-release Burberry Bespoke collection. Watson received it as a gift from Bailey for the premiere of her new movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. *like dying to watch that movie!!*</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TONw48pmJlI/AAAAAAAAAFk/m0bLirEfBus/s1600/Emma-Watson_V_16nov10_PR_320x480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KFPNjtt8h2w/TONw48pmJlI/AAAAAAAAAFk/m0bLirEfBus/s400/Emma-Watson_V_16nov10_PR_320x480.jpg" width="265" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Vogue UK says,</div><blockquote><i>Burberry Bespoke will be a new fully integrated, innovative digital platform, enabling the personalisation of the iconic Burberry trench coat.</i></blockquote><br />
