The Oolah in the Moolah.

I've been so busy at design college! Not getting enough time to blog! But I assure you... My fashion journal is keeping up way too well. I will put up the pictures pretty soon. :)
Whoever said college life would be the best years of my life must not have attended college... or maybe a fashion college to be precise!
Running my Brother (*ahem* the meanie) my vision starts blurring. I realise that maybe the pattern's traced too dark... But then it hits me. The stupid shoulder yoked baby doll top I'm making... is just a tiny grain in the sand... (not to mention its so-five-years-ago... and just boring RTW) I want to make SO MUCH MORE! I guess I'm just NOT a RTW kind of a person! :P Is that bad? Well, here is the sketch of the top I made...

So I made this in my Fashion Illustration class:

It's made using Chinese ink... specifying specific areas of light and dark. I like this kind of art... Reminds me of Lino-cut... :) (The girl is wearing a Chanel fur coat...haha)

Speaking of Chanel, OMG did you see the ad campaign?? That is so unusual of Lagerfeld... Inès de la Fressange (the original Coco muse, walked the Chanel runway for 21 years!), Stella Tennant, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Baptiste Giabiconi getting it all right... (Freja is my favourite always though. ^_^)... Lagerfeld dropped the typical sophisticated look and this time kept it pretty simple... Like someone clicking pictures at a Sunday brunch... (And oh, the biker boots are intriguing... I mean really.)

One ad campaign I wasn't a fan of was of Louis Vuitton... just like the Fall 2010 ad, it has 3 generations of models (Kristen McMenamy, Raquel Zimmermann, and Freja Beha Erichsen)

1.It's gaudy

2.The pictures are chaotic. In a bad way.

3.Why couldn't they do something more different?

4.The looks for all the shots are pretty similar.

I do however like the sets... and the orientalism of the whole thing... and the Normatal Madge-ish hairstyles+looks... AND the fans! :)

And finally! I had to upload this one because she is my favourite!! Leighton Meester for Missoni... 

Everyone knows that she is my muse... And I love the Missoni ad campaign... (Just like Blake lively is the new face of Chanel...)..

The ad is inspired by The Beatles's St.Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover... L.O.V.E.

Gaah! Inspired by empress Theodora and the Byzantine Art the Paris-Byzance show was nothing out of the unexpected, however it richly indulged in the typical Chanel luxe. Chanel's trademark tweed and wool were heavily involved as were the skirt-suits and the capes with their gold trimmings and costume jewelery... Byzance Glam all the way!

This is the mock up of the runway which is so *gourge*!!

Kate Middleton's Bride Brigade!

Now, who wouldn't want this? An army of designers with their gadgets all dying to dress the bride to be in their most outstanding creations like, EVER!!
I bet she didn't see this coming!
Every designer would want THEIR creation to go down the aisle on that royal body on the most awaited HISTORIC day.
So, WWD got various designers to sketch their vision of the bride...

And here is my count down on it. The Top Ten!!:

Starting with... #10 Angela Missoni for Missoni
I like the fact that so many different fabrics are gonna be a part of the design to show the heritage and it's layers of Britain. But.. It looks too... I don't know.... Blankety (?)... LOL.

#9 Nanette Lepore Not much a fan of the dress but  like the concept which she described as:

“A patchwork lace dress reminds us all that a true princess can mend and make do!”

#8 Monique Lhuillier I Love the fact that this has such a flowy movement to it. Imagine Kate walking down the aisle with this. So Slow Mo....!!

#7 it's Frida Gianni for Gucci Simple, Classy, Elegant. Anything but in your face. Doesn't scream "HEY TAKE MY PHOTO I'M A PRINCESS!"

#6 is Prabal Gurung... I like! It's got this mod look which is so now, but at the same time it has this royal vintage feel about itself..

#5 is Lela Rose Don't ask. I just like it. It's cute, okhay?

#4 is Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel... You won't believe what he suggested, the pretty expected Victorian collar and ruffles with the unexpected twist.. Open in front with high boots...!! OHEMGEE! Love.

#3 Wera Vang for the simple reason that weddings and Vera Wang go hand in hand. (that rhymed!)

#2 Peter Copping for Nina Ricci This is just so adorable! It's so romantic and Feathery.... I can so imagine Kate Middleton in this...

#1 Wait for it... Wait for it... Valentino!! Yes I'm going to be a little biased towards Valentino... And I'm sure Kate will agree... I mean I would wear this on my wedding! <3

Flipping through Vogue India (October 2010)

On the cover: The Erratic and gorgeous (mother of two??) Cindy Crawford in my favorite Balmain number... The gold sequined dress from their Fall 2010. line up.. Classy.

Blamain is a very clever brand. In a good way. EVERYBODY LOVES BALMAIN. Period. >>That period signifies the end. <<

I mean just have a look at their Fall 2010-11 Collection:

It's edgy, it's classy... Head turning. And I love the well structured shoulders! Pleasing to the eyes!! Love~

OK quick! Turn to page 312. AAhhhh... The god himself... Karl Lagerfeld (Who told me I'm not a model :( [I'm not fat, I'm voluptuous, Karl ;)] )... oh wait...I just realised... The Balmain connection, AGAIN! [obsession, I fancy :D]

Talking of which I just noticed some of the "not so Chanel" pieces from the Fall 2010 Collection. KARL!!! What happened to these? I thought you hated FAT. Your models are gonna be real upset with you, you know... :(... I mean what was your inspiration? Big-Foot?

But try as i may I can't talk ill about your knitwear. As always I am blown off (not like Alexa Chung says it) by them... And I loved them Fur Boots, Karl...Muah!!

Oh and I almost forgot to mention!! My aunt went to New Delhi and shopped like mad and got me this Chanel beauty... Fall 2009 but whatev... It's CHANEL. It's  CLASS. And it's MINE! (Happyness)

Oh btw, doesn't Natalia Vodianova look absolutely gorgeous on page 320? A little birdie told me that she's a mother of three (O.M.G.) and has the perfect life (almost fairytale-ish!)... With great beauty comes great happiness *sigh*..

All in all I loved this moth's Vogue India (as usual a culmination of various topics in various Vogue internationals published till date in 2010 :P)

But yet, Happy Anniversary Baby! :) *sips martini*
